The function of hydraulic cylinder is to provide linear motion. It converts the fluid energy into mechanical energy (linear movement). Cylinders are broken down into two main categories: pneumatic and hydraulic. Pneumatic cylinders can be operated by several types of gases, however, compressed air is by far the most common.
